Cartier

Illustrations

An illustration project for Cartier Middle East, celebrating their 25 year anniversary in the UAE.

I created postcard artworks using emblematic symbols of the UAE; desert and sea landscapes, along with Burj al Arab and the Louvre Abu Dhabi, and of course, the iconic red Cartier box and their jewelry and time pieces throughout the years.

Bab Al-Shams (Gate of the Sun) by Elias Khoury

Book Cover Design

For the Your Sharjah initiative by House of Wisdom in Sharjah, UAE, I created a contemporary redesign of Elias Khoury's seminal novel "Bab Al-Shams" (Gate of the Sun). The cover features an authentic Palestinian door rendered in vibrant colors, symbolizing the threshold between history and present day that is so central to the narrative of the novel.

Flowing wave elements represent the continuous nature of memory and storytelling that Khoury masterfully explores throughout the text. I incorporated custom hand-lettered typography to bring warmth and a distinctive contemporary touch to this powerful literary classic.

This project presented the opportunity to visually interpret a work that delves deeply into Palestinian identity and collective memory through a fresh design language that honors the book's cultural significance while appealing to new generations of readers.

A colorful packaging artwork I created for UAE-based luxury chocolatier Mirzam, featuring a wind tower from Dubai’s Al Shindagha heritage neighborhood.

48 Stories of Exile

Children’s Book Illustration

Commissioned by author Deema Al-Alami to create an illustration of the Palestinian village of Tayibe, this book is a collection of 48 personal narratives, retold by the descendants of Al Nakba in 1948 through Al Naksa in 1967 and until today. The book is written in English and is approximately 106 pages, suitable for 11-99+ year olds.

These 48 short stories shed light on the hardships and successes experienced by those who were forcefully exiled from Palestine. They include historical events, cultural anecdotes and personal memories that celebrate Palestine since the forced displacement of indigenous Palestinians in 1948, Al Nakba.

100% of the proceeds from book sales (after covering warehousing and payment processing costs) will be donated to The Palestine Children's Relief Fund (PCRF) to specifically support orphaned and amputee Palestinian children in Gaza.

From a Country Called Palestine

Children’s Book Illustration

I was commissioned by authors Muna Abudeyyah and Deema Al-Alami to Illustrate the cover of the book مِنْ بَلَدٍ اِسْمُها فِلِسْطين (From a Country Called Palestine).

The book aims to provide children 4-6 years old with a fun and informative book about Palestine. The authors hoped to inspire children to use art to express their thoughts and feelings about the world. Each section of the book was illustrated by a different Palestinian artist, therefore also celebrating the breadth of talent and creativity from the country.

The book was published by Jabal Amman Publishers in Amman, Jordan in July 2021, with all proceeds going to Palestinian grassroots organizations.

Permanent Record: An Anthology

Book illustration project

Tasmeem: Memory Box

Illustration for group exhibition at Dubai’s ICD Brookfield Place

Along with my creative partner Adnan Arif, created a large-scale poster artwork for group exhibition held July 2024 at ICD Brookfield Place in Dubai. Tasmeem is an annual graphic design and poster show conceptualised by the ICD Brookfield Place Arts that aims to expand upon the discourse and display of graphic design for upcoming and established regional talent.

This year's exhibition explores the folkloric tales, dances, music, proverbs, and games integral to our upbringing, revealing the shared experiences that thread through our lives. Through visually compelling representations, this exhibition captures the essence of these cultural treasures, illustrating how they weave the tapestry of our collective heritage and emphasizing the interconnection of our individual narratives.
